Prairie Ag Research provides contract research services in the following areas of expertise:
Pesticides, Adjuvants, and Surfactant: Trials are conducted in the field to evaluate the efficacy and crop tolerance of both new and existing pesticides (herbicides, fungicides, and insecticides), adjuvants, and surfactants against weeds, diseases, and insects. Application methods include sprays, granular application, in-furrow application, and seed treatments.
Biostimulants and Inoculants: Trials are conducted to reduce abiotic plant stress, improve nutrients availability and plant uptake, and improve yield and quality.
Fertilizer (Macronutrients) and Micronutrients: These products can be applied as broadcast application, side banded, foliar applied, etc. according to the protocol. These products are evaluated for crop yield and other parameters.
Varieties and Breeding lines: Trials are conducted to evaluate crop varieties and breeding lines for agronomic characteristics, disease and insect resistance, and yield.
These trials are conducted on a wide range of agricultural crops grown in the prairie provinces of Canada including, but are not limited to:
Cereal small grain crops: wheat (spring and winter), durum, barley, oats
Pulse crops: peas, lentils, chickpeas, soybeans, dry beans
Oilseed crops: canola, flax, sunflowers, safflower, camelina
Specialty and other crops: sweet corn, field corn, potato, sugar beet, alfalfa, etc.
Trials are conducted on the following pests mostly prevalent in the area:
Weeds:
Grassy and broadleaf weeds (annual and perennial)
Diseases of Cereal Crops:
Stripe rust
Tan spot
Leaf blotch
Fusarium Head Blight
Bunt
Crown and Root rots
Diseases of Pulse Crops:

Anthracnose
Sclerotinia white mold
Botrytis grey mold
Aphanomyces root rot in peas
Root rot complex
Diseases of Oilseed Crops:
Blackleg
Sclerotinia stem rot
Seedling blight and Root rot complex
Diseases of Other and Special Crops:
